What a sensational week end we just had in Finland at the World Karting Championship for OK and OKJ! So difficult for everyone, with continuous changes in weather conditions, and our drivers had to face multiple challenges, racing in perfect dry, pouring rain and intermediate conditions. Only the best could succeed, and our drivers proved to be the best; Lorenzo Travisanutto (with our partner CV Performance) won the World Championship with an amazing performance during the final! We’re so delighted to also have Taylor Barnard from Rosberg Racing Academy joining him on the podium in 2nd place, after a fantastic week end and a nice recovery from P6 on the grid!
It’s been a very tough but nice week end also for Antonelli in OKJ, who finished his final in the Top 5.

“Well, not actually an easy one for me! I’ve had to recover from the back after a complicated qualifying session; it was going pretty bad but I made it to close a decent lap at the very end and gain a nicer starting position. Since we’ve had mixed weather conditions during the heats, I just tried to stay away from troubles. I started 3rd in the final and I knew we had a good package; winning was my only target!
So many emotions for winning the World Championship for the second time in a row, and I definitely can’t thank both Kart Republic and CV Performance enough… this time we made a masterpiece!”

“Well, after winning the WSK and the European Championship, we now also won the World Championship… not sure if we all really realized what just happened, me especially! I cannot thank Travi enough for his incredible performance in this week end! Definitely, I want to thank everyone at Iame, all the mechanic and especially Alessandro, Dino, Flavio, Richard and the whole KR family!”

“This was a very difficult week end for everyone, with variable weather conditions. We still have to verify why we haven’t been so competitive in OKJ in dry conditions; anyway, we’ve had an overall good performance, and our drivers also scored some fast laps.
With better (non-winter like) weather conditions, I believe we could have squeezed more performance. It is not frequent to see so many weather changes in just one racing week end; this time it happened at the World Championship, and we all know how much of a gamble it can be to race with such a tough weather, but we’re ok with that.
Not much to say about OK… when it comes the time to give it everything, Lorenzo is always ready! The whole paddock knows that Lorenzo is the most complete driver in OK today; luckily, he’s with me!
I’m not surprised about Taylor Barnard being on the podium, since we knew he just needed to put together a nicer week end. I took this kid with me to OKJ last year from the British Mini Kart series, and he never had raced international events before; after finishing the World Championship 4th in OKJ last year, this time he finished second is his first year in OK, behind a guy like Travisanutto… I believe he is one of the nicest talents we currently have in karting, along to Patterson, Travisanutto and Minì.
Not a brilliant performance from Patterson, as he usually does; anyway he raced a very god final and finished 6th, recovering from the back; in my opinion, I think this was one of his best races in OK!
He’s leaving us; he will be racing formula cars next year, and I’m sure he will be an amazing driver there too!
Next year some drivers will switch to higher classes, so it’s going to be interesting for us to see how these kids will perform!”

The KR Family will put the wheels back on track in two weeks, for the KZ World Championship in Lonato!
